Growing up in the heart of Albuquerque, Alex Bartra developed a passion for hot air ballooning as a child while crewing with his family friends and watching the skies fill with color during flights, especially at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. That childhood spark turned into a lifelong journey in aviation and ballooning. Alex began flying as a Hot Air Balloon pilot in 2017 as a private pilot. Throughout his time as a pilot, he shared the love and experience of flying balloons with friends and family. After 9 years of flying, Alex obtained his FAA-certified commercial hot air balloon pilot rating and operates out of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

As the pilot and founder behind Airmosa Ballooning, safety is Alex’s number one priority. Bringing a professional background in emergency response, he approaches every flight with meticulous discipline and pre-flight evaluations for safety.

For Alex, ballooning is deeply personal and rooted in community. He loves sharing every aspect of the flight experience and God's creation with his dedicated crew, friends, and family while creating a welcoming, team-oriented environment both on the ground and in the skies.

Whether navigating a tranquil sunrise float above the Rio Grande, flying in local rallies, or hosting special private flights, Alex is dedicated to delivering a first-class and memorable experience. Above all, he is passionate about carrying on New Mexico’s rich aviation traditions and sharing the magic of lighter-than-air flight with every guest who steps into his basket.
